How Not to Jinx Your Move!

Did You Know?

It is good luck to find a cat at a wedding. But ironically, on a baseball field, it can depend on what team if it is a jinx or a blessing. New York Yankees went 16-3 after a cat got onto the field on August 3rd but the Baltimore Orioles went on 16 games losing streak after the loss and cat sighting.

The mythology of black cats started with Hera on Mount Olympus.  A servant named Galinthias had a falling out with Hera about Hercules’s upcoming birth, which led Hera to turn her servant into a black cat. Galinthias later becomes the assistant to Hecate, who is the Goddess of Witchcraft and death. Black or not, cats are shrouded with mystical lure and superstition. However, here are some feline myths debunked.

Nine Myths about our Feline Friend!

Here are 9 common cat myths to debunk:

1.     Black Cats are bad luck

The belief in superstition is subjective and may depend on one’s location.

2.     Cats Hate Water

It depends on the cat, but generally, cats do not like to be submerged in water.

3.     Cats always land on their feet

When cats fall from a height, their ‘righting reflex’ allows them to twist around quickly in the air and land on their feet most of the time.

4.     Cats only eat as much as they need.

A cat’s instinct to hunt is always active, so activities that encourage their play and predatory behavior are beneficial.

5.     Pregnant women should get rid of their cats.

Avoid changing a cat’s litter box if you’re pregnant due to the risk of toxoplasmosis. Instead, have someone else do it for you.

6.     Cats can see perfectly in total darkness.

Cats can see in low light conditions but not in complete darkness.

7.     Can Your Cats Have Milk?

Many cats are lactose intolerant and should not be given milk. Additionally, excess milk can contribute to obesity.

8.     Can cats lose their balance without their whiskers?

Cats use their whiskers as sensory organs to help them navigate through tight spaces and detect changes in their environment. However, they do not rely on these whiskers to maintain their balance.

9.     Cats Have Nine Lives

They only have one life.

The Pets That Provoke Our Purchases!

How Furry Friends Influence Our Purchases!

With the most extensive commercial ads coming our way in a couple of weeks, we are ready and waiting to see the next SuperBowl ads. Animals are always a large part of the ads spent for the big day.

Watching commercials might be a thing of the past for many, but the ad world still finds ways to attract their customer to the product lines, with over 5k ads in our face daily.

Last year, Scout was featured in a $6 million Super Bowl ad paid for by MacNeil, raising cancer awareness and urging viewers to donate to the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine that saved his life.

Playing with our pets and caring for their needs is how we show our love when they give theirs unconditionally.  Saturday Night Live has a parody about our pet love and how it gets out of hand.

Watch here:

Pets are a part of the family and home. Every ad company knows that including your family member in an ad is a great way to pull at our emotional heartstrings.

Top Three SuperBowl Commercial that Does Just That:

What Holidays Songs Make You Dance Around?

A house is a home when you feel as comfortable as Tom Cruise’s character in Risky Business. It was a risky business in the 80s to show you dancing around in your living room. LOL!

A classic home and staircase have been the backdrop for many amazing dance scenes from Beetlejuice to Risky Business to one of our favorite holiday films, Home Alone.

But in February 2020, the advertising world decided to remake one of the classic dance sequences as an ad with new dancing youth and the same classic style. In this ad, Domino’s Pizza reminded us that funny memes on traditional favorites warm our homes and make us laugh.

However, this holiday season, since the world of TikTok, we have been encouraged and provoked to dance and show others our skills. It is no longer a risky business; it is how the internet has involved the world for over 40 years.

It is your choice to dance to your favorite songs or post them for all to see, but Christmas songs ring through our kitchens, dining room, and staircases during the holidays.  The best Christmas songs can be an argument at any table. Similar to if Die Hard is a Christmas movie but with data and the internet, and we have the answers. The Best 25 Christmas Songs of All Time courtesy of Spotify and the winner is Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You!

Recipe for Success

Frequently Asked Questions in the Real Estate Industry

From the consumer side, buying or selling a home is an overwhelming task. It is a huge financial decision that affects the family directly. Most people do not take this decision lightly. It is sometimes a split decision to renovate their existing home or find a new one. It is the premise of the HGTV sitcom, Love It, or List It. The shows have popularity because it plays on the real emotion of making this life decision.

Do you Root for the Spouse who wants to stay or the one who wants to sell?

It is our human nature to be drawn to taking sides.  The show demonstrates an essential technique for making the best decision while purchasing a home. The core premise is the list of the pros and cons and the development of a plan that makes the decision and risk management of the conclusion more logical. If our feelings about a family home only worked that way, the family would always choose the renovated home. Family homes are not built on materialistic needs. It is the smell of the house, the traditions created in the space, and the memories we are afraid to lose if the location is not in our life again. During the holidays, this nostalgia is the epicenter of this dynamic.

Here are the ingredients and steps to follow a successful home purchase;

The ingredients to success in making a house a home lie in the traditions passed down. Holiday traditions do not need a location or people nearby; they need the love that created them.

ERA Real Solutions says this holiday season, enjoy the moment you have and bake your favorite recipe from your family recipe box. The smell of the family dog, grandmother’s apple pie, and laundry detergent that your mom used to wash your clothes growing up make a house your home. Our community mission is to merge traditions to create new ones in our new homes.

“Do you walk into your grandparents, parent’s, or aunt’s house already full from a meal, and walk through the door, and suddenly you are hungry for the smells of the home.”

This feeling is genuinely the warmth of home. The rest can be a list to ready yourself, but the recipe for success is being prepared and following realtors’ advice.

Becoming A Realtor!

Realtor: a person who acts as an agent for the sale and purchase of buildings and land

What was your first occupation?

I am sure you remember memories from your first work experience. However, memories of this employment can leave stories for all the right or wrong reasons for years to come.

First Bad Job Memories:

1.     Scooping Rats Hair out of vats of chocolate

2.     Any restaurant job that starts with  “I was a dishwasher at….”

3. If you are unsure what a lousy job looks like, watch “The Devils Wear Prada.”

The median age for Realtors in the United States is 54.

The median age of the workforce in the United States is 43 years old.  The median age keeps going up every decade. Why are realtors still working at ages above the median age? It might be because the leading reasons people leave a job, retire, or move to another career do not issue for real estate agents.

Top Reason Why People Leave A Job:

1.     No Flexibility: Work-Life Balance

2.     Not Appreciated by their superior or customers

3.     The work is not exciting.

People think money or benefits is the driving reason for someone to leave a job. But, on the contrary, fulfillment to the community, work, and life is a leading reason people stay at a job.

Age over Beauty;

This phrase “age before beauty” means that old people should be served first, and the beautiful and young should be served or assisted later. However, it is mostly used by old people in a funny way to flatter the young people. A seasoned pro can make the difference when buying or selling a  home. The average income for a realtor working 20-40 hours is $46,000 a year. The real estate career allows you to work in the place you call home, for the community you love, and for as many of the years you choose.

Homework For Buying a House

As the school year begins from college to elementary, we remember that planning for the first day of school takes preparation.  Purchasing a house is a considerable expense and decision for most. Researching homes is the start of the homework, but asking the right questions of those involved can make all the difference. From the final offer to the neighbors, doing homework on your dream home purchase is not only about the house wish list.

Three Things You Need to Know!

1.     Don’t Try to Time the Market

Waiting for the market to be ready for your perfect house will never give you your dream home. The dream home has nothing to do with timing. The best time to buy is when you find your perfect house, and you can afford it.

2.     The Prior Owner: Why did they purchase the home?

The home you purchase could have been someone’s dream home before they placed it on the market.  Why not ask them all the critical questions about the home you are about to buy from the person who loves it too?

3.     Make precise demands. Be upfront about extras, such as curtains, light fixtures, or appliances that you want included with the house. If it is included in the offer, you get what you want in the end. Your dream home means you need to do your homework to know what you want and need ahead of time.

Do you Love:

1.     your neighborhood?

2.     your community?

3.     helping others?

Check out our checklist.

Indian Summer with Unique Fall Predictors

It is incredible to think when people were asked five years ago where they wanted to be in an interview or conversation, that would have been predicted here. The changing of seasons can put this in perspective.

Indian Summer has Begun.

The real estate market stays hot and steady through the start of the school year and fall. Real estate experts agree the coronavirus has changed what people are looking for in a home—but to what extent is up for debate.

With low mortgage rates, the real estate market will see a fall season that was not predictable in the past.

Most people mark the coming of fall not on the fall equinox on Sept 22 or the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte that seems to come sooner and sooner each year, like Christmas decorations at Target and Walmart but with the falling leaves, pumpkins, and our thicker socks.

What is Your Favorite Fall Decoration?

Suppose you want to sell a home or make your house a little more festive. Town and County offer some great tips on adding curb appeal to your home, with pumpkins, mums, and haybales.. OH MY!

Or is it Your College Football Banner?

At ERA Real Solutions Realty, making a house into your home is what we love to do! No matter what the season, helping you feel secure in your dream in this unpredictable year with a place you feel at home is our goal no matter what year it is.

Show Me The Money; Recruiting Real Estate Agents

The time real estate agents hear Show Me the Money, like the screen in Jerry McGuire, is more than most people can handle. However, the clientele works with their life’s most significant purchase or sale. Yelling louder and louder for your client to get everything on their wish list makes the best real estate agents.

At ERA Real Solutions Realty, our real estate market strategy to have the best agents for our clients is the heart of our mission, culture, and team mentality. Creating the best team for each market is how we succeed. If these things are in place, we show our agents the money.

Five things we consider when recruiting:

1. Not Always About the Money:

Changing jobs isn’t all about the money, either, as 74 percent of younger employees would accept a pay cut for a chance to work at their ideal job, and 23 percent of those seeking a job wouldn’t need a pay increase to take a new position.

2. Leadership is accessible.

Leaders are visible and accessible: Employees support leaders who are transparent, accessible, honest, authentic, and who invest in them. When an organization’s leaders are front and center and make themselves available to everyone, it creates a sense that “we’re all in this together,” and employees are much more likely to feel good about the goals they’re working towards and the company’s mission.

3. Give the employees the recognition they deserve.

“Having a positive culture and workplace environment helps a lot, as it encourages teamwork and communication, which increases engagement and opportunities for teammates to learn from each other. We also do regular shoutouts to people at all levels of the organization for great work or superior effort. These kudos cost nothing but provide important public recognition for a job well done, effectively compensating people in the form of social currency, which is highly valued.” – Gary Beasley, co-founder and CEO of Roofstock

4. Foster a collaborative environment, not a competitive one

People, in general, want an enjoyable place to work. For millennials, that means a site that is not cutthroat. According to The Intelligence Group, 88% of millennials prefer a collaborative environment to a competitive one. Working with enthusiastic, positive, energetic people who’re at the same time professional at their fields and share professional values is like a gift from heaven.

5. Opportunity to Advance and Learn

Employees like to know that there is a pathway that will allow them to move up the organization’s ladder. They do not want to be stuck in a dead-end job with no possibility for career growth and development. Employers that promote from within and offer development opportunities will have a higher rate of employee retention than those that do not.

Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, helping others can be a gratifying experience. At ERA Real Solutions, we are committed to helping people fulfill their dreams by providing expert guidance and support throughout the home-buying process. As one of the top-10 ERA franchise systems brokerages, we take pride in our boutique approach, which has helped us achieve a 98.7% customer satisfaction rating. Back to the Old School Cribs, Our Love for Celebrity Homes

With Cribs coming back to MTV , reestablishing our love for our stars and their crazy homes has come back to us from the good old 90s. Were you a fan of this MTV craze?

How do you categorize the top houses if you think about your favorite homes from MTV or HGTV? Millionaires, actors, and sports athletes’ homes infuse their passion and need to make their houses into their homes. What makes a celebrity home unique? The location, the incredible space that it is used for, or just the size of the house in general.

Not sure what is on your top ten list, but here are some of our favorites.

Follow Your Passion; John Travolta

John Travolta’s Home in Florida is one of the best examples of including your home with your passion. John Travolta, the famous actor, is also a private pilot. The picture explains it all.

Love for Nature and Music; Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelly’s Treehouse and Studio

Location, Location, Location: If your creativity comes from nature or music, this unique home in the treetops of Nashville could be on your favorite top homes list.  With a recording studio, six buildings, and a view of the woods from the porch but majestic like a bald eagle, this epic space is splendid like a bald eagle.

The Vanderbilt Estate The Biltmore, Per Size Dominates

The Vanderbilts built this incredible estate in Asheville, NC, and it still sits on this fantastic southern plantation that comes right from The Great Gatsby area with a winery, 175,000 square feet, and took six years to build in 1895. Now, an incredible resort getaway in the mountains of North Carolina, The Biltmore is the largest estate in the United States by over 70,000 square feet.

Secret Room and TikTok

Our love for crazy things in a home isn’t only about size, location, or passion but can also be a unique aspect or feature in someone’s home. Neal Patrick Harris loves magic and created a secret doorway in one of his homes. But it is not only the celebrities that have unique features in their homes, and the trend #secretroom on #TikTok shows us all that everyone has a passion or unique personality that they add to their house to make it a home.

We are growing in Florida!

AWARD-WINNING ERA BROKER CONTINUES GROWING SOUTHWEST FLORIDA MARKET SHARE WITH FOURTH SUNSHINE STATE MERGER

Addition of Boutique firm in Fort Myers Beach bolsters Ohio referral corridor.

Fort Myers Beach, FL (July 13, 2023) – ERA Real Solutions Realty based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has joined forces with Fort Myers Beach, Fla., brokerage Lahaina Realty. This marks the company’s third market expansion in Southwest Florida in four years.

Broker/owner Jeremy Raby, a former winner of the ERA® Gene Francis Memorial Award for Top All-Around Company, previously acquired Cape Coral-based ERA Cape Realty, as well as Fort Myers-based ERA Right Choice Realty.

With this announcement, Lahaina Realty will now operate as ERA Lahaina Realty, while maintaining the same boutique approach that has allowed them to succeed in Fort Myers Beach for over 50 years.

The combined company, which spans Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, as well as Cape Coral and Fort Myers, now consists of 10 offices and over 400 agents, who were responsible for $700 million in sales volume in 2022, which bolsters their ranking on the RealTrends 500.

Founded in 1966, Lahaina Realty is widely known for expertise in the retirement and second-home market, as well as deep knowledge of prime beach properties. Lahaina Realty owner Paula Kiker will continue as broker of the local office, helping her team of 30 agents leverage the expanded suite of tools and services now available to them as part of ERA Real Solutions Realty.

Raby initially expanded into Southwest Florida after noting a growing trend of second-home buyers and retirees in his Ohio market securing properties in the surf region of the Sunshine State. Rather than refer clients to another brokerage, he pursued an option that would allow his company to keep the business in house and gain access to one of the fastest-growing markets in the U.S. [MD1]

ERA Real Solutions Realty’s Southwest Florida operations now consist of 4 offices and more than 160 agents.

“Joining forces with Paula and her team has significantly strengthened our referral network in Southwest Florida and provides our expanded company with additional expertise and presence in this market,” said Jeremy Raby, Broker/Owner, ERA Real Solutions Realty. “Our boutique approach allows our high-quality, full-time agents to consistently achieve a 99.5% customer satisfaction rating, creating a new standard for service excellence in Ohio and Southwest Florida. The Lahaina Realty team places that same emphasis on the importance of reputation and high-quality work ethic so we have tremendous synergies working to our advantage to fuel growth.”

In addition to creating a strong referral corridor between Ohio and Southwest Florida, Raby also created synergies through affiliated services. The acquisition of Right Choice Realty included an in-house title company, which Raby expanded into his Ohio offices. In addition, he brought his expanded Ohio-based company’s relocation services and property management to the Florida locations.
